Advice and inspiration needed on food

Hi all
I'm 24 weeks and my appetite has dropped a lot in the last 2 weeks. I can only eat half of what I used to at one sitting. So the answer is, eat smaller portions more often.

However, I just don't fancy left overs (is this a pregnancy thing? Never had a problem with leftovers before) so I can't make a normal portion and have some the next day, because I just don't eat it. Have mostly been having things on toast and small baked potatoes, but this isn't a very balanced diet.

So what can I easily make in small portions?

Make pasta and freeze it in small batches

Similar for stews, soups and your favourite dishes

Then just microwave what you fancy - when you fancy it

How are you with making large batches of things and freezing them? Not quite leftovers, but you can make all sorts of sauces that will freeze in small portions, then just cook a small portion of carbs to go with them :)

Also, you can snack extra between meals to make up the extra, especially if you're worried about getting a balanced diet. How about fruit, hummus and veg, cheese and biscuits, nuts, yoghurt, etc.?

I buy those bake yourself crusty bread rolls, I make a guacamole and whenever I feel peckish, I bake two, which only take ten minutes and have them with smoked salmon and guacamole! Be sure to put lemon juice in your guac so it doesn't turn brown and lasts a couple of days! Also I make pesto pasta with a little bit of cream and various fishes, you can then put in as much as you like. a sandwich? Rivita with ham and cottage cheese? Make some muffins? You can also freeze muffins too. At the moment I'm addicted to pasta n sauces which I know rant that good for you but are great for a snack and I eat heaps of fruit and veg. Humous and carrot, pepper, celery sticks? Eggs Benedict which is my fav at the moment! Make bolognaise sauce and freeze in little freezer bags one portion. What about frozen mini sausage rolls? Pitta bread pockets which you could also have hot with chicken and salad. Wraps, my fav one at the moment is lamb with a marinade and lettuce.
I can go on and on and on!! I have the same problem! I put the left overs in the fridge with good intentions and end up sending it to work with DH and can't stand the look of it even being there! Usually I'm fine too! Ive had to eat things in this pregnacy that I've never even dreamed of eating before, how I come up with some of the stuff I do not know! My one at the moment is pasta with pesto, rocket, a little cream, prawns, smoked salmon and cockles!! Weird I know!

Coppernoddle - those are all wonderful ideas, but I just don't fancy anything! Non pregnant me would have most of those things in the house anyway. I have now found some humous hurrah! And I have also been having a few eggy things.

I've been through all my usually wonderful cookbooks, and through bbc good food website, and everything is making me shrug my shoulders and say 'hmmm naaah'. Is anyone else like this? Really picky and just not wanting anything?

I think it's just a phase of pregnancy! I'm sure it won't be long before you start eating for England!!! I went through that exact same stage and am now eating 3 meals plus snacks in between and can't eat enough!! I guess the best thing to do it get other people to cook!! It always taste better if someone else has cooked it!! Sometimes if it's just put in front of you, it makes the decision making easier! Good luck x x mine picked up at about 28 weeks x
