Strange pains could I get some advice please?

1st pain is a sharp pain in the right side low down it happens when lying or sitting and eases when take weight off that side.

2nd and most annoying pain is deep in my buttock (left) and really painful, comes in spasms and struggle to walk. This is my 3rd and have never suffered with this previously.
Also get a lot of cramp in my left calf, which is more frequent in this pregnancy than in previous 2.

Not sure if it is relevant but I will mention it in case, DS is only 8 months old and was born by EMCS due to presentation and distress. I have fallen pregnant stupidly quickly after having him and am currently almost 26 weeks. My anomally scan showed I have a low lying anterior placenta which is to be checked again at 34 weeks.

Any advice or possible causes would be really appreciated. It could just be that I am sitting on my bottom for far too long.

Thank you.

Hi Nunnie,

2nd pain sounds alot like sciatica (sp?) to me, this can be eased by stretching gently. I suffer both when pregnant and not.

!st pain, not sure really, if your worried have a chat with midwife

Hope you feel better soon.

Well, I have complete coverage placenta and your pain is most definitely not that! You can't feel the placenta, even if you bleed.
My first thoughts were, are you drinking enough for the cramps? I know pregnancy is full of cramps and pains!! It sounds like you may have pulled muscles or the start of spd. You can get differed pain in spd, which is all around your pelvis. (another thing I have), can be very very painful, I get it worst in bed at night, not sleeping at all now. Mension it to your midwife but think it's just pregnancy niggles. X x

Thank you.
I damaged my pinosa muscle about 2 years ago and it swelled an caused sciatica but the pain was in my lower bum cheek and burned down my thigh and was agony.

This is painful but not that painful, and is more upper buttock and deep than lower if that makes sense.

I didn't think it was the placenta but wasn't 100% sure. Maybe it is just stretching or scar tissue from section. If it carries on I will mention it as at hospital in 3 weeks for measuring. I know it isn't a urine infection as have just been treated for a nasty one and my sample was clear last week.

In spd I get really bad shooting pains up and down my back and legs, were the noggly bits are to your pelvis, it comes from there!

Don't think it is that then, I am just going to sit on my bottom less I think, maybe it is lazy bum syndrome.

Thank you.

Hi! the pain in your bum could be PGP (pelvic girdle pain) - in you sacro iliac joint - is your pain worse when transferring weight from one foot to the other?

have a look at this site

www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk

or the SPD thread
