As the title says, I am due at the end of the month and getting to the point where I am soooooo over all things pregnancy...Sad

Anyone else in the same position? What can I/we do to pass the time?

Helpful suggestions very welcome! Trying not to get down, and am just trying to focus on the fact that the end is in sight...

I know it is hard because you're probably excited/terrified/physically uncomfortable/sick of talking about being pregnant to people BUT....try to relax.
Honestly.

Massages, beauty treatments etc.
Lie-ins.
Trip to the library and get a few good novels to read.
If you are at all arty, crafty or into cooking, do something creative along those lines.
Go to the cinema, if you can sit still comfortably for that long, or get DVDs out.

None of this is rocket science, I know, but these are the things you really miss when you have a newborn demanding your constant attention.

Thanks BetchaByGolly- think I'll try and take a nap and read a good book.

Cinema does sound good but I am HUGE right now and finding it a bit uncomfortable sitting on those chairs for too long.

Can you manage exercise? A gentle swim might be nice.

...or you could just stock up on the family sized chocolate bars and revel in having an excuse to sleep whenever you want to Grin

Am due next week. Filling my time on the internet and drinking raspberry leaf tea. Also cleaning the house (when I can be bothered). Baby stuff all ready to go so now it's just drumming fingers time.

Have also been putting as much stuff as possible on sky+.

And eating ice cream.

Ooooh, can I join in? You've probably seen my other post where I stupidly optimistically thought I might be starting labour. Just appears to be MORE AND MORE effing braxton hicks. Wish they'd feck off as I am sure that the real thing won't make an appearance whilst these pretend ones are going on. HUMPH.

just got back from having a pedicure, killed a couple of hours - what with waddling there and back and having the treatment.

Just about to make a pasta bake thing for the freezer...but having a biscuit and squash break beforehand.

I cannot stop eating today either. And DH is bothering me about going to the pub tonight. Cannot think of anything worse, although I guess it will kill some time.

Hi LittleMilla, Good idea re the frozen pasta bake...I suppose I could get on with cooking a few meals to put in the freezer for due day BUT I just can't be arsed at the moment....

I know I don't have long left, but EVERYTHING just seems such an effort at the moment.

I also had a strong bout of BH the other day accompanied by some slight cramping whilst at the shops- thought things MAY be starting a little early....BUT no such luck and actually found out that the pain was due to baby dis-engaging from my pelvis!!- GREAT! What a rotter!! ;)

I would go to the pub, as long as you let yourself have a glass of vino- couldn't think of anything worse than going to the pub for a diet coke!Smile

Leila, I'm due on Tuesday and uber-fed up now!! No reason to think this baby will be early, but am going to do my nut if go one day over very late!

I've filled my freezer (didn't first time around, but this time have less support around and have to keep feeding DD!); got some cleaners in (literally, not metaphorically!); having reflexology which is divine (almost feel myself whimpering when it comes to the end of the session!) - just took DD for a float around, which was nice.

But I'm also at the can't be arsed stage PLUS keep waking in the middle of the night, so knackered too!!

Leila, I know you're around my way and I just had a really wonderful massage locally. Let me know if you want a rec :)

(I'm not a stalker honest!)

I feel your pain. Also due round then but housebound by SPD and unable to do pretty much anything. The house is a tip, I'm totally dependent on my husband for everything and I still have potentially 6 weeks ahead. It's no fun at all. I should pick up tips from the excellent suggestions on here and distract myself from the pain as much as possible!

I find that MN helps kill time when bored and waiting for DH to come home from work! Mustering up the energy to go and start building my pasta jobbie.

Leila you're scaring me now. During last night's contractions twinges it felt like duff duff was being pushed further down. And it does all seem rather (ahem) swollen down there, but who knows. Not seeing MWs until next Wednesday, so i'll just have to wait and see. And pray that things kick off

StiffyByng something on my list is to write DH a helpful list/guide of things he can do around the house when baby arrives. Sounds patronising, but rather than me stewing when tired/BFing, I thought it'd be easier for him and other houseguests to have for reference.

Pootletrinket- ooooh reflexology sounds good, might help get this baby moving too. At least you 'hopefully' only have a matter of days left until you pop...good-luck, I am sending out lots of natural synotocin vibes your way!

safetyzone- How do I know you??? You wern't in my NCT group were you? Where do you go for your massages? Maybe I should just treat myself! Before my body is ruined FOREVER!!

StiffyByng- Sorry to hear you are suffering...SPD must be horrible. Still, alll we can hang on to is that we are all nearly there, and once those babies pop out, all our symptoms should dissappear.... fingers crossed!

LittleMilla- It might well be that your baby is engaging, I had lots of crampy tummy feelings recently and when I had my MW appointment baby was 3/5th engaged. Hence the period type pain.....she has since popped back out, but that's irrelevant..

Hi Leila, baby has been 3/5ths for the last few weeks...so I am hopeful that this means it's pushing EVEN further down Hmm. Wishful thinking I reckon...

Right, so pasta bake looking pretty impressive and even a couple of ragu portions left over.

Just opened a can of fosters - WTF (I never fancy lager)? Cannot face the pub, so decided to give myself a treat at home...DH will get a fright when he finally makes it home!

Also due in a couple of weeks:

MN
Organising baby stuff
Cleaning (or not)
Pondering how to clean the sofa without hiring a rug cleaner
Gym, gym, more gym and floating in the pool
Lie ins and naps
Creating email lists to tell people about the new arrival
Making a standardised shopping list for DH
Telling baby to stop trying to be transverse, engage and stay engaged...

I like the idea of a DH checklist for household chores.

You all sound impressively busy to me! I'm lucky that my other half does loads around the house all the time so no list needed. But he doesn't feel upset about all the undone baby stuff like I do.

Report
LittleMilla · 07/04/2011 19:41

My DH checklist will look something like this:

Does any washing need doing? (Whites - 60, colours - 40)
Does any washing need hanging out or putting away?
Dishwasher need loading/emptying/putting on?
Need to do any washing up?
Have you got enough shirts ironed?
Could our bedding do with a change?
Put some clean towels out - give them a sniff
Put the vacuum cleaner around
Have we got enough bread/milk/cereal/soup/butter/bananas?
Check bog roll stocks in both loos
Does Milla look like she could do with break? If so, take baby out for a walk. Or run her a bath. Or just give her a cuddle and say how ruddy wonderful/clever/talented/special she is!

Well, that's the start. Who can add some stuff?

Leila thank you - natural vibes would be lovely- am really really really really hoping to avoid being overdue as I really don't want to go down the path of induction/intervention that happened last time! I would still be sleeping now, though, if not already the mother of one!!!

frakyouveryverymuch · 08/04/2011 09:27

I will add to that checklist (which is fab and I am totally stealing)

Wipe the kitchen surfaces
Empty the crumb tray in the toaster
Is there anything in the fridge which has gone past its sell-by/use-by date?
Put the bins and recycling out
Do the cars have enough petrol/enough water in the windscreen clearners?
Have we got enough chocolate?
Are all important dates on the calender? Is there anything coming up we need to act on (birthdays etc)?

Report
LittleMilla · 08/04/2011 10:13

Frank very good one on the bins...my DH has got some sort of blinker-view of the bin. Will get VERY creative about stuffing in as much as possible. And will then look at my as though I have two heads if I suggest it might be time to empty it!! Hmm

I am going to add:

Does the bath/sink need a bit of a clean?
Bleech and scrub the loos

xx

What's everyone got on today? I am currently up and showered (small miracle) and need to walk to garage to pick up fixed car. Then go to dentist Shock then going to meet a friend for late lunch in the sun.

And then out to dinner, phew. Busy one...but hopefully it'll stop me focussing on every single niggle/twinge/twitch.

I'm subdividing your list into rooms/areas Grin

I could be writing exciting factsheets about tax and insurance but this is probably a more sanity-saving use of my time.

Hi ladies,

Very impressed with the lists BTW...

I have just got back from a visit to the park- sun is shining, it's gorgeous out there...though the up hill walk back wasn't so pleasant!

Should really be putting all the moses basket covers/sheets on to wash, but then again am being lazy. Hope this baby doesn't arrive early as she will have nothing to sleep on!

Hope everyone else is having a lovely day!!

Hello leila. I decided to walk to my lunch date, which has left me in absolute flipping agony. Had SPD from about 20 weeks and so I shouldn't have been so ambitious. But the sunshine lured me in to a false sense of security...plus I am secretly hoping that the walking might kick off baby.

Got a bit burnt too. Uh-oh, not very sensible for a nearly-mummy-to-be!

Off for a curry tonight - whoopeee!!

Hope the weekend is fruitful for some! x

I went to my SS's school Easter assembly, then to our NCT breastfeeding session. My legs were feeling really good (although on codeine...!) so I made a plan to meet a friend for tea. As soon as I got home, one leg went into total spasm so I spent the rest of the day on the sofa. I'm being driven to a massage soon so hopefully my legs will feel a bit better tomorrow - I've got three friends coming for lunch, will be solo as my husband has to go away for the weekend, and not sure how well I can cook on crutches!

You lot sound busy on such a gorgeous day!
