Pregnancy

Feeling movement and then not

I know, I know, too early to worry really, but it's niggling slightly.

I am 15/16 weeks pregnant and felt movement (popping, fluttering and tapping) from 14 weeks. I felt it mainly at work in the morning (I work part time) as I was sitting still. WHen I'm not working I'm running about after my toddler so don't get the chance but think I may have felt tapping in a different area (up higher) at dinner over the weekend.

But since last week nothing. Is this common?

I'm not an anxious person by nature but did fret about this with my daughter's pregnancy but as I had a scan each week or every two weeks I got constant reassurance. Even then she was breech later on and I never really got kicking, just a bit of head movement.

Thanks! I realise big movement daily is from 24 weeks onwards but it would help to know this was common.

If you are very worried, speak to your midwife.

I think it could just be that baby is in a different position, so you can't feel it any more. As she grows and moves around, you'll feel her again.

Me too!

I've heard others say exactly the same who are further on in their pregnancies (I am just 18 weeks). It might be that you have an anterior placenta (round the front) that is making the kicks less easy to feel. This is what I have. Or the baby is turning around and kicking you in the back instead in which case you wouldn't feel it anyway.

I am trying not to fret about it as it seems to be v.common at this stage - roll on 24 weeks!!

me too. i am 19 weeks today and have felt flutterings from 13 weeks, and move noticable movments at about 15-16 weeks, but this last couple of week, hardly anything. i do feel it maybe 1-2 a day but nothing like i would have thought. this is my 2nd so was expecting to feel alot more both in the strangth of movement and how often.

i have bought a doppler off ebay, so at least even if i cant feel it, i can hear it, but its not come yet and ,my 20 week scan is not till the 22nd

me too, Im 20 weeks. and started feeling proper kicks about 2 weeks ago (but im quite big so didn't expect to feel any earlier) I felt my DD1 at about 22 weeks.
on Saturday bubba was having some sort of river dancing lesson going on in there but yesterday nothing and today maybe a couple of flutters, or might be in my head. some days i feel loads and some days i feel nothing!
also, im convinced i felt a couple of kicks in the bladder.. is that even possible???

Glad it's not just me (and I;ve seen other stuff online about it)

I'm not desperately worried or anything but I would like reassurance. Got it in bucketloads with first I had abroad with one ob/gyn throughout. Here I only get two scans and they are spaced far apart. Have had a lateish mc as well so that amps up the niggling.

I can feel something that feels like sinking, or some vague sensation of an area being pulled downwards. I also do feel as if something is 'in' there.

Every pregnancy is different though. First one I balloned in weight and vomited every day until I had her (overate to compensate) this one I've lost a stone and still throw up once a day at least but have no appetite really so don't overeat and besides, if I do, I really bring it all back up. But I feel much better in myself generally (am thin for first time in 3 years) and not as tired (had preeclampsia the first time)

Good luck everyone.

This happened to me too!

I felt the flutters & popping you described really early in this pregnancy (My second pregnancy)I guess it was around 13 or 14 weeks...then I had a few weeks of NOTHING - I was starting to really, really panic but last Friday (20 weeks pregnant) I felt my first proper kick and since the have felt a few more kicks. My 21 week scan is tomorrow and I cannot wait to be re-assured that everything is OK.

It doesn't help that DD was very active in my first pregnancy -I felt my first proper kick around 17 / 18 weeks and she never stopped moving after that. (She is 2 yrs old...still hasn't stopped Grin )

I know that you aren't supposed to compare pregnancies but it is so hard. I also think that I am comparing these first few 'weak' kicks with the harder, constant movement that I remember from the later stages of DD's pregnancy (if that makes sense?)

I'm just at 18 weeks and have had on and off movement for a couple of weeks now. I had a really quiet weekend movement wise was starting to get worried. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

For some weird reason it prefers being at work to beng at home. Now I'm at the office and on my computer I'm getting all kinds of poppings and flutterings going on.
