Hi Ladies
I am 12 weeks pregnant and had scan on Friday and everything is good.

However, over last couple of days I have been experiencing:
lower back pain
groin pain
dull ache in my bits

I had spd with my dd quite bad. I spoke to midwife today and she said that it was too early for spd and that they wont scan me as only had one on friday and that I need to wait and see what happens as I am worried sick that something is wrong and I am going to have a miscarriage.

Has anyone else had any of these symptoms?
xxxx

Okay, I'm starting to become a little bit of an evangelist on subjects of this sort.

Midwives, fab though they are, do not know everything. As I understand it, pelvic pain (of which SPD is one type) is caused as a result of the pelvis moving around, often incorrectly. You then get additional extra pain as a result of muscles moving wrong, your joints getting inflamed etc etc. So, I would think that the moment those hormones start loosening things up, there's no reason the pain can't start.

If you can, I'd try and see a chiropractor or physio for pain of this sort. Going earlier, means you have a better chance of catching it before it gets worse. Some manipulation, appropriately placed pressure/ice/hot packs could make a difference. I'm not guaranteeing it, just saying that a midwife might not see the whole picture of your body.

I had groin type pain very early on but would describe it as the period-type pains you get when not pregnant but stronger. So if you're feeling these I don't think this is SPD, just your uterus starting to stretch. I felt it was quite strong (enough to want painkillers) and a bit worrying at times but my pregnancy has progressed normally and baby is healthy (I'm 38+2 now)

good luck, hopefully it's just normal pregnancy pains.

I have no idea what SPD is, but I wanted to say I had my scan today and am 12 week 5 days. And I too am totally in pain.

Right how I am in my bed propped with pillows and feel a bit like I have a period (but its also different somehow). And don't even mention my lower back ...

Maybe its a sign of the week? I don't know, but I really do hope it lets off soon!
