Nasal Sprays

Has anyone got any experience of using nasal sprays during pregnancy?

The one I use is one of those you can use "if the benefit to the mother outweigh the risks" (Flixonase).

I really, really need to use it, but am worried as one website says it caused cleft palate in animal testing.

I use flixonase and intend to carry on using it. I have decided that I am going to go by what the medical proffesionals involved with me say and am not going to read or google anything else as it is turing me into a mad woman! I am sure that if you researched enough there would be a reason for us not to drink water!

I am terrible without my flixonase and it effects my asthma, my sister continued taking it through all three of her pregnancies and they are all fine.

Try not to worry, I am going by the fact that a baby needs a healthy and calm mummy!Smile

When I was pg with DS I was physically dependant/addicted to Sinex and carried on using it throughout my pregnancy and after until I went through withdrawal and managed to cope without it.
He was born without abnormalities.

With this pregnancy, I had a horrendous sinus infection and was prescribed Otrivine, although when I went to pick it up there were two pharmacists there, and one of them was quite reluctant to give it to me.

I have one for my sinuses, and its safe thru preg, but if you're not sure, check with the pharmacist :)

ivy, I'm addicted to Sinex too. How did you come off it? And how long did it take? I used it through my first pregnancy and DS is fine. I've been using it for this one too.

Thanks everyone. I'm allowed to take it, it's just that I've wound myself up when I heard that line they trot out about the benefits outweighing the risks.

I can't go on with this stuffed nose though, as it's making me throw up!
