Funny nipples... most probably TMI, sorry!

Very hard to explain, and will probably sound really weird, but hey ho...

I seem to be producing some kind of milk or something already, at 11 weeks. My nipples have kind of white spots in them (the actual nipple bit, not the surrounding monstrosity). Confused

I can pull the bits out if I so desire (sorry, that is far TMI), but they are replaced again by the next time I'm ogling them suspiciously in the shower. It is kind of in the holes where my milk came out when feeding DD. And I don't remember this when pg with her. To be honest, it's freaking me out a bit!

Someone tell me this is normal. DH says it must just be because I fed DD for a year or so and my ducts are just loose or something! Shock

Mine do that too Xmas Blush
so if it's not normal, at least you're not alone!

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my first and I seem to get a white spot of something from my right nipple every time I check them. It is nothing major and I just figured it was a bit of leaking. I tend to just remove it. For some reason it is only ever my right nipple though.

Actually though I clicked on your thread hoping you were having a similar issue to me but I wonder if I can quickly hi-jack your thread anyway if you don't mind. I have noticed in the last 2 weeks dark spots that look like moles appearing around my breasts - some on the darker bit some just around it. I was wondering if this is normal?

MrsNoggin - you must be quite new to MN if you think that is TMI Grin (or you just hang out in the 'nice' areas!!)

Yeah I had that too. For ages whilst pregnant (first and only time) then for months after I finally stopped expressing milk.

I don't reckon your nipples are going to fall off or anything.

I had that in all 3 of my pregnancies.

IIRC I was told it was a normal side effect just not experienced by everyone, nothing to worry about though anyway. Just my body reacting to the pregnancy hormones.

I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway & ask the midwife about it at your next antenatal appt if it's still bothering you.

Have been here for years chippingin, just didn't think people would be too keen to hear about me pulling bits out of my nipples! Grin

And feel free to hijack catherine! I can't really help except to say that breasts do the funniest things during pregnancy. I should think your midwife would be more useful than I though!

MrsNoggin - you need to join in on Friday nights or Mooncup discussions, then there's the bleached knickers or mucus testing - there really is no such thing as TMI on mumsnet - there isn't one single question I wouldn't ask this lot now! Grin

I get the little dark spots like moles (only not) too, Catherine. They seem to come and go, although I picked one in the early days and made it bleed, so I'm now just ignoring them.

it sounds like montgomery glands. they become more prominent in pregnancy.

nowt to worry about, unless infected.
