baby hiccoughs in womb = colic in baby??

This might be a stupid first time mum question but would like opinions please!

I'm 35+3 and the baby has had hiccoughs at least once a day for the past 3 or 4 weeks. Is this any indication that DC will be a colicky baby?

Thanks!

DS hiccuped loads in the womb, and as a baby - but he's a very contented little chap and has never had colic.

Ditto for DD - no idea whether there is a connection but there certainly wasn't in case.

Nowt you can do about it though so stop worrying Smile

DD2 hiccups a lot in the womb and a lot outside (still at 10 months). very very content baby, never cries unless hungry absolutely no colic or even trapped winds or trapped burps!! Grin
DD1 no hiccups inside, a bit of colic (still bearable)
where did you hear that?

Not in ds's case.

I had hiccups lots with both my pregnancies but only DS1 had colic.

I remember reading somewhere that drinking pro-biotic drinks during pregnancy had a positive affect on colic/reflux. Having gone through hell with DS1, I took a daily yakult (or other such mini drink) and my DTs were pretty much colic and reflux free...one of them was a bit of a sicky-up baby but none of the twisting and crying for hours.

Thank you so much everyone.

I hadn't heard it from a dr or read it in a book. I just didn't realise that babies hiccoughed so much when they were still inside so just wondered if it was abnormal and if there was a link.

I wasn't worried as such - just trying to prepare myself mentally if there was a link.

DD hiccoughed nonstop from about 26 weeks, and never had any colic ever.

DS hicupped at least once a day inside, DD didn't hiccup at all that I felt, fortunately neither suffered from colic.

DD hiccupped a lot in utero, then a lot outside too!
Not really any issues with colic though. Just enjoy it!!

DS was a real hiccuper and had horrid colic for three weeks... so if I have another I shall try the Yakault theory. I always thought the hiccups were actually just them practising breathing?

One of my twins hiccuped daily whereas her sister never hiccuped (but kicked lots). I was a bit paranoid at birth that the doctors would muddle baby a and baby b, but I need not have worried as even after the birth, one of them hiccuped regularly (with no colic) and the other kicked loads ... (also with no colic).
both had reflux though.
