Pregnancy Pillows

Any recommendations, Ladies? Choices seem to come down the wedge, the horseshoe or the sausage. Which is best? Was favouring the sausage even though it was a sausage that got me in this mess to start with!

I like my basic Mothercare pillow which is just a giant normal pillow. Not great quality, but it's done me well through the pregnancy and I like that it's easy to swap sides with.

I got a long body pillow cheap on Amazon, it's really been great.

I haven't found any of them that great (tried various including Dreamgenii) - I just bought more normal pillows in different weights and then I can arrange them the way I want (and found that my needs changed as the pregnancy went along).

I used a horseshoe beany-pillow if 1st pg, and became unnervingly attached to it. I also found it really useful after ds was born for breastfeeding.

I'm only 9 weeks so don't need one yet but when the time comes I'm tempted by this one (someone linked to it on another thread and I've been itching to buy it ever since!).

Sausage V-shaped pillow here. It's fab, large and washable and fully malleable? to any shape/thickness you want. From Jojo maman bebe, i think.
Still in good use way post pregnancy and birth!

Was great for propping us up comfortably in early days of feeding and bonding -ah!

It looks amazing doesn't it yellowmo? But yes I think I'd have to banish DH to the spare room to fit both me and the pillow in our bed. And I'm guessing it wouldn't be much use once the baby arrives due to the possibility of losing the baby in the pillow.

I've never got the V shaped ones WowOoo, don't you just end up kind of slouching into it, IYSWIM?

Really want that pillow, Serenajoy (take it you like Margaret Atwood?) May have to have it. DH twitches, kicks, snores and hogs duvet so he can go to the spare room and I'll have The Pillow!

I think I could probably sleep on the floor quite comfortably if I had The Pillow DrSeuss! (And yes, big MA fan.)

i got the Dream Genii when pg with DD. I do like it, I've woken up on my back a few times recently, but because of the lumpy bit at the end, I've not been flat on my back IYKWIM, but it's not great... the sausage bit could do with being a bit bigger IMO & it doesn't really work as well if you want to sleep on the other side.

I've got the Theraline BigV (from John Lewis £40) - it's excellent and has really helped with my back/pelvis problem.

Hi all,

Sorry to be dim but I haven't really worked out the point of these - is the idea to raise your bump off the bed? I'm 32 weeks and still sleeping without anything between my legs (so to speak!), although I now use two rather than one pillow under my head. Don't have anything behind me either. I've looked at the recommended sleep position in the pregnancy book (and am making sure always to sleep on left side) but what exactly is it trying to achieve/avoid?

Sleep, mostly! Achieve, that is. If you can do that then you're very lucky. Most of us survive with a complex arrangement of pillows which you just get sorted in time to get up to pee! Last time I did the pillow juggling thing. Now I want the Big One!

I use a combination of a dreamgenii and an ordinary v pillow so I'm kind of in a cocoon like that giant v pillow. I was given the dreamgenii from a friend- wouldn't have paind £40 for it, though it is great. I'm usually a wriggly sleeper but it makes sure that I stay on my left side or slightly tilted towards my back- this means that my renal output is maximised and had reduced the swelling on my legs Thankfully we have a kingsize bed so there is enough space, though it is another thing to add to the list of pregnancy passion killers as OH can?t even get close enough to hug me!
