All week I have been driving myself crazy - period late (never late) - smells crazy overpowering - husband throwing up every morning for a week and all I want is sweet foods (normally a savoury chick) but the tests said NO even the Dr said 'do a test they are normally pretty good and your only a week late' did a urine test in the surgery and that came back negative. Well I just did one and you guessed it its a BFP YES !!!!! and I had to share it with someone! Grin

Only thing is Im now concerned as to why it didnt show up for at least a week after my period was due. DD1 showed on tests a few days before due - has anyone else had this happen? and what was the outcome was everything ok? Sorry but am a born worrier. Just phoned a friend and she had the same happen and she had twins! Shock

Late ovulation is the simple answer, unless you know exactly when you ovulated.

I had the exact same thing. DP was convinced but two negatives later we gave up.... 15+ weeks now! :)

Yup same answer, late ovulation or implantation, or low starting hcg levels...or cheap pg test? Same thing happened to me, levels all fine and normal now - 10 wks on.

thanks guys - it makes me feel a bit better -its just strange - had stomach cramps as usual when ovulating at the usual time - tests were clearblue (mind you that doesnt say much Hmm )Are you both having single pregnancies? DH is now a bit worried it will be twins (DD is only 6 month old!)

Maybe it just took a bit later for the hormone levels to build up enough to show.
Congratulations! Have you got twins in the family?

Yes on both sides! and we are both due them! Hubby is having mild daily panic attacks! It doesnt help that I have already swelled up and cant fit my jeans on (happened the first time too then the weight doesnt increase for 14 wks or so)

OOh I think I remember reading something about if your hormone levels are TOO High, then it won't register on some tests! Maybe twins gave a massive boost of hormone (no show on test) then your body settled down (test)! Don't tell Dh though! When can you tell? I suppose it will be scan, so ages to wait. How would you feel about it?

Twins generally show up earlier due to the extra hormones.

Twins on your DH's side will make no difference to you in terms of genetics. It runs in the women and its non identicals that are genetic. I have a friend with non identical twins who looked into it all.

I suppose i will have to wait until the scan to tell - when I didnt get a BFP from the clearblue test DH read the leaflet that comes with it (because we were so convinced I was pregnant) which does say that results may be a problem if multipul pregnancy then he phoned the helpline Hmm straight away who confirmed that it might mis read the levels if its twins. Mentioned this to the Dr when I saw him last week and he thinks the twin thing is rubbish but it will be interesting to find out! Think I would be ok with it - hubby is really good with our DD but his job takes him away A LOT so mum and dad might have to stay when I get too tired - am very lucky they are really happy to be involved alot.

Ooh, Dummy, congratulations!! Grin
And how exciting!!

That info about non-identicals running in the female line makes sense, as it means your ovaries are particularly prone to firing out more than one ovum at a time. This also increases after about 35.

My friends were in exactly that scenario, by the way - when her first daughter was 6 months she fell preg with twins. It's busy in their house!
The one thing I would say is that it is really important that you and DH come to terms with twins (if it happens) as soon as you can and form a united and mutually supportive front. He sounds fab though, so I'm sure you'll be fine!

My friend's DH was a bit of an arse from the beginning...went into denial, then refused to prepare himself for the twins' arrival. Made their marriage and caring for the babies so much harder.

Wow Dummy, what a babytastic house you would have!! Imagine all that love Grin

How exciting re twins, let us know if it is. Yes mine is single pg and my pg test lines were faint for quite a while. HCG levels were quite low but they were doubling nicely so noone was concerned. 2nd scan showed a larger than average peanut with a good hb so dont think it has any bearing at all on the outcome. very excted for you now - when is your scan?

forgot to say thank you last night - l was really shattered by bed time (oh come on 8pm is lateBiscuit)!

Thell - am over 35 too! DH has come to terms with the twin likely hood and l think he would be almost disapointed if it wasn't now so its just a waiting game but I will let you know when I have my scan.

Hi guys - just to let you know that I have an early scan booked in for late on friday as have swollen to the size of a house MW wants me checked. Have gone from a size 14 to an 18 already and only 6wks pregnant - it could just be because DC is only 7 months old and I have no stomach control Hmm but it will tell us if its twins etc - will let you know :)

Hi I didn't get a BFP till I was 8 days late with my DD, I was convinced I'd ovulated on day 14 but we were using condoms then so I can't have till day 21 when we stopped using them! (trying to avoid a EDD of brother in laws wedding!).

This time I got a BFP 2 days after AF was due but my dating scan put me back by 5 days so guess ovulation/implantation was later than I thought!

Congratulations though xx
