Anyone else getting sharp pains in lower abdomen?

Hi

I'm 34 weeks and getting sort of stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, in the middle. They're occasional and very sudden and quick, but hurt like hell, even stopping me in my tracks sometimes. The little feller is moving a lot, so not too worried about his wellbeing, but can't seem to find any other threads about this. Have asked midwife and she thinks he's sort of on a nerve, but it doesn't feel like that...(tho fat lot I know)

Anyone else get this too? What is it!!!??

I get something very similar, although mine is usually more around the sides of my bump, my midwife said she thinks its round ligament pain.
When it strikes it's so bad i can barely move for it, it is so painful. Sometimes pushing my daughters wheelchair or toddlers pushchair triggers it, getting up or sitting down to quickly and then even sometimes at night i wake up with it.
Baby is moving lots though so i think thats a good sign that he's ok, or i hope so.

Maybe google ligament, or round ligament pain in pregnancy and see if any of it rings a bell for you, may not but might be worth a google Smile

Take care.

Thanks Violet5.

I looked up round ligament pain, and it says it tends to be round the sides and mine is bang in the middle... can't find anything about that on the net. And nobody else has answered so I'm thinking it's something not that common.

He's still springing around in there though so I reckon he's doing okay.

Thanks for answering! :)

I'm not as far along as you (around 20 weeks), but I get really strong stabbing pains just under and in my belly button - is that where yours is, or is yours lower? My midwife also said that she thought the baby was lying on a nerve, so perhaps its the standard answer for random pain! I never thought that made much sense, but as everything seems okay, I have just gone along with it!

Um... I'm getting similar shooting pains - but in my nether regions (sorry TMI). I'm 30+1 and I get it if I'm on my feet too long. Desperately doing lots of pelvic floor exercsies.... I gues though that everything is getting a lot heavier and stretching so I suppose it's natural to feel a few twinges? Contact your MW just in case though. x

Phew! Thank goodness someone else knows what I'm talking about. I was beginning to feel faintly demented!

The pains continue to happen with no regularity, but my midwife seems completely unconcerned. I guess if she thought it was symptomatic of something scarey she'd look more interested when I complained about them!

I've spoken to a few people now who said they had them too as they neared the end of the preg, so I feel way better. I'll certainly stay vigilant though- can't do anything else when you're a paranoiac first time mum... Wink

I think I got these a bit earlier on (am 36 + 3) and was told that it was my insides stretching to make more room Confused
