I'm sick of being sick. I'm only 11 weeks ish and am sick every day. This then triggers my ibs to flare up as my body is only keeping in the stuff that my ibs doesn't like.
I'm stuck between sitting on the loo or bending over it! (sorry if tmi)

Any advice?

I had awful ms till 20 weeks last time so expect the same this time. Can't remember ibs being so bad last tine tho.

Help! Poor Ds will go mad if I make him watch any more tv! :(

Hi,

My ibs was hideous in my last pregnancy and pretty bad in the first trimester this time around. My lovely dr prescribed me Codeine Phosphate for my diahorrea as when I got pg I was in the process of moving 200 miles and had to do a 3 1/2 hr drive, 2 hrs of which was on the M5. I would never have managed it otherwise.

Apparently Codeine is safe to take in pregnancy, save for the third trimester as it can cause probs in babies lungs, but in early pregnancy it's fine. It worked fantastically for me and really saved my bacon.

I wasn't offered it in my last pregnancy and ended up in hospital because of my constant diahorrea and sickness (although wasn't sick as much as had the runs, so I am pretty sure my ibs was to blame for my dehydration).

Maybe your dr would be willing to prescribe you some? Otherwise there isn't really much you can do about it. However because you're having lots of sickness too you are in danger of rapid dehydration, your dr really does need to help in some way.

Hope this helps. x

I can't take codeine as I literally end up off my face and lose days at a time!
No good with a toddler.

I have some anti sickness tablets but am loathe to take them as with any drugs in pg. (personal choice btw and don't judge anyone who choses otherwise)

Just fed up and needing a moan.

Do you have food intolerances as well as IBS? I found that plenty of the foods I needed to eat for MS were also good for IBS - e.g. crackers, biscuits, white toast. But if you're gluten/wheat intolerant as well as having IBS it gets harder.

Can you take a soluble fibre supplement to help your IBS?

japhrimel is right, look at whether you can adapt your diet to avoid the triggers for your ibs. this made a huge difference for me whenever my ibs flared up.
