Pregnancy

Nipple fun

Um was reading my DH's book on pregnancy and it gives the advice to expecting fathers that they should take nipples handling out of their foreplay repertoire. I was reminded of this by a comment another poster made in the breast pump thread..

Well how much is too much? And do i really have to stop it completely? Because, and this is probably TMI, but that's my favourite thing (like my actual favourite. It is a very important part of sex for me and I'd hate to have to tell DH to stop it.
Another thread also mentions using it as a natural inducer and how she wishes she hadn't done this natural or not natural.

I'd love it if any doc, midwifes, or nurses could respond too, as well as normal people who might be more in the know than me. I'd really rather not mention it to my midwife as don't feel very comfortable with her.

If you still like it, I don't see the issue. Nipple stimulation, like sex, shouldn't induce labour before your body is ready whatever. And when your body is ready, it might be a good way of encouraging things to start on time!

You may find that how much you like it (or not) changes as your boobs change though. Mine now feel completely different. I'd also find it really off-putting to start leaking during sex and nipple stimulation could encourage that!

I agree with JAPHRIMEL.... from a "natural" point of view, you would be BF the previous child (maybe even more than one), while pregnant, so I doubt any harm could result. May make things a bit more "leaky" towards the end of preg, but on the other hand, IMO, a bit of nipple handling probably help prepare them for BF...... certainly never saw the need to stop doing anything I/we enjoyed, tho' sensitivity will alter depending on how many weeks you are.

leaking would freak me and Dh out! The thing is now, they are so sensitive that I could just leave DH at it for years.. Blush

I like it even more. I suspect I will be put off it after the baby and when I start breastfeeding so I kind of want to enjoy the extra stimulation but not if it is dangerous!

but you are probably right japhrimel I am only 19 weeks so hopefully my body wouldn't try and deliver early.
