I am 32 weeks pregnant and feeling really down. My lovely hubbie is trying is best to be sympathetic but he just doesnt understand. I am currently on the 7 week school holidays as I work in a school which most people would find fantastic but instead I just feel really lonely and weepy. If anyone has any ideas on hwo to perk myself up it would be much appreciated!

Thought I would get in there first before people start suggesting you 'take up knitting' or cross-stitch. Vom, lol.

  1. Read a totally non-pregnancy related book
  2. To prevent boredom when feeling mischievious; pop into a bridal store and try on lots of inappropriately OTT gowns
  3. Make some veggie crisps from scratch
  4. ...or find a really complex recipe too try (without poisoning OH or LO)
  5. Go swimming
  6. Find out about any groups for new or expectant mums in your community
  7. Do a short course (at a college or something)
  8. Spend an afternoon in the library
  9. Get a small (and easy to care for, but maybe soft and furry) pet

10. Start doing crazy amounts of online competitions to win stuff for baby (using various alias' and new email accounts that you set up the previous day with extremely rude addresses, lol)

Just some daft ideas, but hope they cheer you up. Have you got any pg friends nearby?

waddle into a chemist and ask for a pregnancy test, just to amuse yourself. x

Hi
Not really got any pg friends nearby and most of my friend work all week as they have non education based jobs so its hard to catch up. Will try some of your ideas but even reading them made me smile

Love the test one, awesome

Another suggestion: find a tv series to get into - try a lengthy one, like Greys Anatomy; The GoodWife (Im addicted); Sopranos; The Wire; Life on Mars (and the version they did in the 80s, think it was Ashes to Ashes) ummmm... cant think of many other good ones. Oh yeah! The American Office. Watch at least 3 epsiodes and I guarantee you will love it. Far funnier IMO than the UK one for different reasons. Goodness x

haha, JennyPiccolo, awesome idea!

Reminds me a bit of when (in my slightly younger, slightly sluttier days) I had to go get the Morning after pill and I was so embarassed that I tried to persuade my friend to go and get it for me. Would have been okay had the said friend not been 9 months pregnant. Figure the chemist would have guess she'd missed the "72 hours" window.

Get out of the house! I'm home a lot and sometimes go cabin-fever crazy. Just taking a novel to Costa and having a time out away from the house helps.

I have just re-watched the full box set of Sex and the City - that should keep you amused for a while!

Also think of all the things you would like to do but won't be able to once the baby is here - then quickly do them!

Really indulge youreself.... get a load of DVDs out and make a bowl of popcorn and then lie on the sofa/bed all day, moving as little as possible. Or stay in your dressing gown all day and give yourself a facial/hair masque/manicure etc.

Or play music loudly and read glossy magazines.

Or go to an art gallery and then go and buy the most indulgent cake you can find.

Just please yourself! Also, remember that a lot of your feelings may be hormones and you can't control hormones... Worse luck.

I too get down in the dumps in this fashion - you feel so physically retricted and isolated!! I'm currently experiencing this at a measly 24 weeks!! Well done on getting to 32!

I am currently amusing myself by:

  1. Reading a true crime magazine (morbid fascination)

2.Inviting everyone and anyone over for tea. And cooking everything from scratch!
  1. Putting music on, turning it up v. v. loud and belting out some tunes (makes me feel better somehow).
  2. Researching ridiculous baby things online that we don't need and planning to buy them, but not really.

5.Doing online courses by the BBC.
6.Catching up on celeb gossip (actually - don't do this. It's mind-numbingly crap.

Jeezo - looking at this is making me depressed.

Ignore all of above. Listen to everyone else.
