stupid question about bumps

I realise this is a slightly ridiculous question...

I'm 16+4. Before I got pregnant I was very fit and had nice abs and a flat stomach. Now I have quite a lot of fat round my belly which I was expecting. It is shaped like a bump but is squidgy and I can suck almost all of it if I try. So is this not bump, just fat? Will it turn hard soon? WHen did you notice a proper bump?

I ask now because I saw a friend of mine yesterday who is 17 + 4 and she has the most perfect sticky-out bump, so obviously pregnant. Although she was 5 foot 0 and a size 6 before getting pregnant so I guess the baby has nowhere else but out to go!

I had a squidgy bump until my uterus popped up above my pelvis - now my bump is hard. I figured that although my growing uterus was still tucked in my pelvis early on, it was pushing everything else out of the way.

I'm now 19 weeks and my uterus has reached my belly button. I have a bit of podge at the bottom of my bump, but I had a bit of a tum before getting pregnant and otherwise my bump is hard.

Have exactly the same as you emble. I had a pretty flat tum too and since 6 weeks it has been getting fatter. Almost like an extra tyre but not hard, i can also pretty much breathe it in. I'm in my 14th week so not as far along but can't wait til it goes and i get a nice bump. Some people have even said 'ooh, you're starting to show' and i have to say 'no, no that's just fat and water retention'.

Does it suddenly pop out/become hard over night?

This is exactly what I've been thinking about lately! I feel like I just look fat at the moment and I really want it to turn into a proper bump...!

I'm 18 weeks and it still looks like fat!! I had a bit of a squidgy stomach before getting pregnant, so I'm guessing the fat is just being pushed out - it's not so easy to suck it in now. Hopefully it'll feel a bit harder soon so I don't feel like I'm faking it.

I did see a friend who is 30 weeks pregnant the other week and she looked smaller than me, she said it just hasn't popped out much, so I guess you never know what you're going to get.

I am much bigger than you so not the same but to answer question re going hard, mine has just turned hard in last few days (am now 19 weeks) and I can no longer suck it in - did kind of seem to happen overnight the hardness.

I'm 26 weeks, and would have loved a neat little celebrity style bump.

Sadly, I appear to be more of a wide load. My bump had spread out quite a lot, and sticks out far less than a colleague who's 4 weeks behind me. Basically, to strangers, I just look porky.

This morning I was getting the tube and - years of habit ingrained - holding in my stomach, when I thought, what the hell are you doing?? Breathed out, and got a seat! So clearly it is bump-shaped, if still soft!
