ds is 2.7 and has absolutely no interest in weeing/pooing on the potty - he's dc3 so i'm not a complete novice at this but the other 2 were dry by this age! ds has never once wee'd in the potty despite my best efforts!

so last week i decided to go the cold turkey route of putting him on the potty every 20 mins or so but after 3 days of just weeing in every pair of trousers he owned i kind of gave up! he would come and tell me he was wet but it didnt stop him doing it again the next time!! the potty is right next to all his toys so thats not an excuse! he also wanted to copy his older brother and sit on the toilet and was asking to sit on the fishes (toilet seat) but would sit on the toilet make a squeezy face then get off and say i've done a wee (blatantly had done nothing!!)

i think he's just not ready but dh thinks i should be able to train him cause the cold turkey route worked with dc2.

i do also thinks he doesnt drink enough so really pushed the drinks last week to no avail.

any ideas? am i best leaving it or should i persist with it?

I'd leave it a few months.
Ds is the same age as yours and is still in nappies. We are trying cold turkey next week, but if it doesn't work I'll wait until the warmer weather so he can pee all over the garden and I won't have to follow him with a mop.

loving the thought of you following him with a mop!! we've just had new carpets put in upstairs so he was banned from upstairs last week or the couch cause i just knew he'd wee!!
i know its wrong to compare him to my other dc but it drives me mad that he's not PT!! he's such a bright wee thing and can chat about everything and is so physically strong- this is obviuosly just not his strong point!! (ds1 was a nightmare baby, took ages to speak but was dry the first week i tried it with them - funny how all so different!!)

let me know how you get on with your cold turkey next week!! good luck!!

Yes, mine was quick to talk and is very tall which I think makes soem people go a bit when they see he is in nappies. Up until the last week or so, I didn't care abotu the PT but I have suddenly become fed up of nappies - find it hard on my back - so will give it a whirl. Also looking forward to having an exstra fiver left over in the shopping budget. Just enough for a bottle of plonk.
