Hoping to start training DS (2y9m) over the Christmas period whilst he's not at nursery.
Does anybody have any book suggestions to help us prepare?
Any other tips/experience regarding training around this time of year (i.e. Not the usual summer months)?!

Following as DS is the same age and we have started potty training but we are considering taking a break until Christmas!

He really likes the Pirate Pete book. He also likes the Little Princess, especially shouting "I want my potty!" Today he told me to be the king and bring him his potty which I did and he enjoyed it immensely Grin

In terms of books for parents I've heard good things about "Oh Crap! Potty Training" - I haven't read it but I'm considered buying it.

Not sure whether a book is necessary but tips would be helpful. Just don't want to waste money on a bad one.

We've just been through (well still going through) potty training my son who's 2 yrs 10 months and used the oh crap potty training book after it was recommended by a friend and it's brilliant, very easy to read, lots of tips and he's doing really well. It's an intense 3 days but has been so effective. Now to tackle night time but I think that can wait til after Christmas!

We (well, i) used Oh Crap with my 2.5 year old son. I found the book hard-going but followed it to the letter and he is now clean and dry during the day 2 weeks later (clicked after about a week). Without sounding dramatic I found it incredibly stressful but it was very smooth bar a few accidents. I'm just a drama queen.

Honestly- read it. It's an interesting read. Made me question my parenting (in a good way).

As for it being winter it really hasn't been an issue. We did bare bum for the first day and just cranked up the central heating. He really didn't mind.

P is for Potty

It's an Elmo, Sesame Street one. It is American, but you can obviously say nappy instead of diaper. It has loads of cute little flaps to lift, and a story involving Elmo's cousin wanting to be like him, having an accident, then using the potty correctly.
