Potty training

Should I start potty training tomorrow?

Not sure what to do. Intend to potty train dd who is 3.2 years. Previously unsure if she's ready so she's been in nappies as usual but when she wants to have put her on the potty. She's happy to go but hadn't done anything so far. Until yesterday she did a wee at Pre school and today a poo in the potty here. Both times she had a nappy put back on after.

I have everything I need so was intending on starting potty training in few weeks as she's only just started Pre school and didn't want to do two big things at once. However I am wondering if I should start tomorrow.

But I have the school run to do, have the gym booked where dd will be at the crèche and dd has a swimming lesson. I had intended to stay in to potty train her and kind of let her Pre school do it the two days she's there. Hopefully she ll come back pretty much done. The reason I wanted to stay as I went out too much when potty training ds at 2.3 years when dd was a baby. It was a nightmare and I want to do it differently this time. But we don't have much on at weekend and dh around to sort ds so I can concentrate on dd.

However, I haven't read the potty training book, haven't talked to dd about it properly and can't remember where I put the sticker chart.

I am thinking of waiting until Monday but worried it will confuse her if I do. She's done a wee and Poo in the potty and now I am putting nappy's on her again.

What's your opinion?

Op, my opinion is you are over thinking potty training.,😀
It won’t be confusing for her. You are right to want to be around, to have cleared yr calendar, it shouldn’t be too stressful, she will do it when she’s ready ...

Yes start tomorrow, cancel everything and stay home. You can’t drop her at a crèche on day 1 and expect them to do it. Likewise it’s not on to hope preschool will send her home ‘pretty much done’. You do have to put the bulk of the effort in as mum.

User- yes I am as it was such a nightmare with ds it has certainly made me want to do it right this time and over analyse.

So if I start tomorrow I cancel all plans tomorrow. Still got school run to do tomorrow. Just wondering if can start Monday as intended when have no plans. Just don't want to confuse her by her wearing nappies in meantime.

Super- I haven't. She's been wearing nappies and I take them off when she wants to try to use potty. This was twice today and nappies worn rest of time with wees in.

Do morning school run in a nappy (child, not you!). Then take it off once home and get on with it! A great time to start with the warm weather. Keep her bottomless, outside with potty on standby. Any accidents will be much easier to deal with and you can enjoy the sunshine too!

You have already started, it's a very relaxed start, but you already introduced the concept and let her lead.
It's a good start.

So started potty training the following morning after posting. Cancelled all plans and spent the day speed reading the potty training book.

Did the school run minus the nappy and cancelled crèche and ballet. Day two and Dd has only had one accident and done wees and poos on the potty. Cancelling plans tomorrow and monday too and hopefully be almost there by then.

It sounds like you're both doing great, OP. Hope the good progress continues!
