Hi everyone,
We decided to start potty training our 2.5 year old last Monday. He was telling us when he needed a wee/poo and was starting to say 'no nappy' and wanted it changed all of the time.
He did so so well from the start! More so than I expected really. I was nervous for him to go back to nursery this week but again I'm so proud of him, he had one accident Monday and none today (he only goes 2 days a week).
The problem is with when he goes for a number two! We haven't got one in the potty yet, he goes in his pants. He's always been abit funny about going for example he hasn't ever been at nursery even when he was in nappies (he started nursery 2 months before his 2nd birthday) then he would go as soon as we walked through the front door at home. It is the same when my mum has him on Friday's and he is absolutely in love with and comfortable with her.
Is it normal for children to struggle more with number 2s when potty training? We are just over a week now, how long should I leave it before I should worry? What would my next step be?
We have been praising him massively and when he poos in his pants we explain that it goes in his potty or the toilet- the same as when he wees. So we don't tell him off at all. He only has one poo a day (thankfully!).
Sorry about all of the info in this message! Any advice would be much appreciated please!
