Hi my Ds is 27 months and randomly started using potty last week when I took his nappy off. He stands over the potty won't sit on it and is doing really well unless he has anything on his bottom half then he just wees ! If he has a nappy at nap time he will tell me he needs a wee . He also dosnt like to poo on potty or toilet gets panicky and upset . I have now bought a step and toilet seat he will sometimes use it however he is starting preschool In A few weeks and won't be able to wonder around naked lol any tips tried just pants or just trackies

In your situation I would completely take away nappies except for night time. Either keep him naked or in easy to pull down pants and shorts. Take him to sit on toilet/potty regularly. Say every 30mins. Praise wees and poos on toilet, but don't go overboard with the praise. Don't make a fuss about accidents. Oopsie, let's clear it up is enough. Never get cross or shame. If it becomes a power game it goes beyond their own inbuilt wish to be toilet trained. With this approach my ds was accident free (except the occasional one) within a few days, week max. Good luck!

Thanks i don't make a fuss with accidents just like you said ooopsy and clear it up we do a high 5 after a wee or poo so no nappies even when out ? I'll give it a go he does ask for a nappie when going to bed however though often wakes up and still dry

Personally I would fully commit to training and ditch nappies for going out. Just take a spare spare of sports. I think it's confusing otherwise. They quickly forget about nappies if on pants all the time and accidents are an incentive to use the toilet for them. If he is night dry then ditch the nappies completely by all mean. My son was night dry by 3 I think.

I think mixing nappies and pants will just make it all take longer. If he is ready it should only take a week.

Haha. I potty trained during the day first then one day about 6 months later my dad put him to bed and didn't think to add a nappy. He woke up dry and we never looked back!
