We are beginning to potty train DD (2 1/2). We have reward charts and stickers for when she sits on the potty and tries and when she actually goes to the toilet on the potty. We sit with her, make a big fuss when she uses it and read her stories if we sit and wait for a few minutes.

So far, we have only managed to have productivity when we have put her on the potty first thing before her nappy is wet. If we say lets go and use the potty, she gets all agitated and upset about it.

What would people suggest? What has worked for you? I don't want to push her into something that she gets upset about, especially if it causes her long term stress about it.

Any general advice is welcome too. Smile

Hi being 😀
So, my girls weren't much interested in potty training and were 3 if I recall before I decided to try. We started just first thing in the morning and before bath at bedtime and praised them for wees in the potty. They were in pull ups for the daytime and I would ask them if they wanted to try but not pressure them. Sometimes it worked better to say, Let mummy know if you need a wee. We also did bribery with mixed results. DD1 wasn't that bothered but DD2 would try for a wee for a choc button with 2 if she actually weed.
I found that the peer pressure and routines of nursery really helped to spur them on (they both had their 15hrs at age 3) but they seem to have bladders of steel as they never have needed to wee very often either of them!
So to cut a long story short, too late we waited for interest and then tried to be relaxed about it.
