Ready to start potty training?

DD had recently started doing a couple of things which make me wonder whether I should go and buy a potty this weekend in preparation to start potty training. She stops what she's doing and stands still when she's having a wee and when she's doing a poo, she squats down until she's finished and nods her head if you ask if she's doing a poo. She also goes and gets a clean nappy when she's done a wee/poo and lies down to be changed.

No advice I'm afraid but I've been wondering about this as well.

Does she know before she goes or just when she's actually doing a wee/poo? I'm guessing that's important. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along shortly!

How old is your DD?

How old is your dd? Won't do no harm having a potty and letting her try

I think kids do it when they are ready to and not much point repeatedly trying before then. I started toilet training 4 months atter my friend and my lg was ready about the same time as she clicked in a couple of days straight into pants and that was us. I searched online and this program helped a lot:

Better a month too late than a day too soon.

If she can tell you before she goes, that's a better sign.

My 19 month old tells me every time she has a dirty nappy, sometimes with wet nappies. She gets a new nappy and wants to be changed.

She's not ready yet though - she can't talk well enough to tell me, and she doesn't seem to know before she goes - just AS she's going.

If you wait until they're really ready it takes about 2 days to be fully dry. If you start too soon you'll be faffing on for months.

How old is she?

I was wondering this too. My dd is nearly 18 months and does most of what op mentioned except the lying down for nappy change stuff. Chance would be a fine thing!

As her communication skills aren't brilliant yet I'm waiting for those to get better first and by then it'll be summer so I'm thinking it might be easier then.
