Potty training

Getting dd to bed

So we have been potty training dd for a week now and things seem to be heading in the right direction. Yesterday and today she has had one big wee accident and a little wee accident, these happen in the morning and I think are due to the confusion of taking her night time nappy off.
The issue is bedtime, she has rather quickly cottoned on to the fact that if she says she needs the potty we won't ignore her. She is wearing a nappy but we thought it would still be really important to let her use the potty if she said she needed it, and if she does go in the nappy she wants it changed. Any tips for shortening the rather protracted bedtimes we are currently enduring?
The other issue that nursery have raised is that she will do a big wee and then about 5 mins later has a small accident that distresses her, I have noticed her do this maybe twice this weekend and don't know if it is something to worry about or not.

Sorry I have no tips as we're going through the same thing with DS at bed time. We're just trying to start night time routine earlier if poss so he still ends up in bed at a reasonable time.
Actually any time we want him to do something he doesn't want to do he suddenly needs a wee or poo! But produces nothing!
We've only been potty training for a couple of weeks now so I'm hoping it will get better. Like you I felt it was important to let him try to use the potty if he said he wanted to, but it's wearing a bit thin now!!

No help I'm afraid but thought I'd bump. DD (2y11m) has not yet cottoned on to wanting to use the potty at night, and she can be hard work to get to sleep!
We've been potty training for 6 weeks, am thinking I should stop for now and try again later. I feel a bit disappointed that the last 6 weeks of laundry are waster though!

I am in exactly the same boat - DD has also cottoned on to the fact that I don't ignore her pleas for the potty either. Tonight she called out that she needed a poo and a wee and tried to tell me she had a belly ache (I know she didn't, this is also a ploy of hers) but I just kept things as boring as possible and she got fed up in the end and started asking for a drink instead! (at which point she also 'forgot' about the belly ache Hmm
I put her back in her cot and got her a drink and she fell asleep after that. I am dreading moving her to a bed which we are doing when we get back from our hols in Aug - have to as she is growing out of the cot (it's not a cot bed) and the clip has broken so she could now technically lower the side (although she hasn't realised this yet)

So sorry, no real tips, but I do feel your pain -bedtime is just getting later and longer Confused

It is good to know other's share my pain! After a terrible night the other day we are trying to be really tough, it backfired tonight though as psge used her nappy and then took it off herself- this resulted in a poo disaster!! I wish there was some magic that I could apply to fast forward a few weeks/months....
Smile, don't give up, I was told that nighttime dryness is down to hormones and can't be rushed. If she is doing well in the day then I would continue.

I would factor in a bedtime toilet trip as part of routine. I mean I go before bed so surely they need to get used to that being normal?

I remember this well! I think you're best off just going along with it for now.
I also made the mistake (DD was a potty refusnik) of leaving a potty in her room - in case she needed it - and she took off a poopy nappy and emptied it in the potty - and was terribly pleased with herself about it too!
It will pass.
Bedtime dryness can take some months, or even years later to come.
