Potty training

Does night nappy have to be dry before you remove it?

My DD is 3.5 yrs and toilet trained for day but in a night nappy still.
Saying she doesn't want to wear a night nappy and have tried removing but still a couple of accidents at night so put back on

Should I wait till the night nappy is dry before removing again? Still pretty wet first thing.
Suspect she is peeing at 530 am though which is waking her up every morning ( nightmare!)

Am loath to try lifting as am
A) too knackered and
B) been warned not to do that ( sets yourself up for
a bed wetting nightmare) is this true???

Any help much appreciated!

I took off nappies when I started potty training and never used them again, lined their beds with half a dozen old towels, let them sleep without pajama bottoms and left a night light and potty in the room. I also used just easy wash/easy dry fleece blankets and didn't give any drinks after about 7 pm plus insisted on a night time pee after tooth brushing.

We took the lazy approach . For about 6 months after potty training he was still soaking in the morning. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that it was dry so have stopped putting him nappies. No accidents so far...

My worry is we are a year after daytime training and think she is in a habit of peeing in her nappy

I think the book I followed took the attitude that when it comes to training, what you are trying to do is replace the habit of peeing and pooing in the nappy with doing it in the toilet, and that the best way to establish a habit is to do it consistently, hence me whipping off the nappies and never looking back.
