Potty training

When to buy a potty?

So, I know I have a good few months to go, (DD is 13.5 months) but I'm just wondering, if potty training starts at 18 months at the very earliest, is it worth buying a potty a couple of months before so she gets used to it just being in the bathroom and associates it with going to the loo?

She totally shocked me the other day - she was in the nude as I was about to put her in the bath when she went up to the toilet, attempted to flush it, squatted down next to it and did a wee!

What do you think?

They all vary, you probably will want a potty at some point (unless you plan to go straight to toilet training). For a girl it doesn't matter too much, but if a boy might use it make sure it has a fairly big bowl.

Ds would only do poos on the potty from 5 - 13 months, he hated doing poos in his nappy and waited until his nappy was off, he then did a poo and wee on the potty as I was fed up with mess when changing nappies so they can have the control. Then his inner boy took over, and we are doing potty training for real at 2.6mo. Some children are ready really early, but at that age it is not worth pushing it too much.
