What is a good age to start potty training?

My daughter was two in October and has showed all the signs for a long time and is constantly taking her nappy off. I have tried and she will sit on the potty but won't do anything in it. Is she maybe a bit young at the moment?

I'd say a bit young, but I have ds1 who didn't show signs of being ready until the holidays before he went to school.

Certainly no harm in getting her used to the idea around the house.
Ds2 is 2.5 and done a wee in the toilet once before the bath. (and at the same time as his brother which was kind of cute and odd!!)

Not interested in trying again, so I am leaving it until he shows more signs.

I mean ds2 is not interested in trying. Not me.

I'd say not too young for some. DD was potty trained by 2 years and 2 months. Her cousin was trained before she was 2 as was her friend.

Maybe I'll try when I have a bit of time over Xmas and if it doesn't work out leave it for a few months. I don't want her to feel stressed. I wish she hadn't learned to take off her nappy as there are little wees and sometimes the odd poo on the floor when she get the chance to whip it off when Im not looking :)

DD has just trained during the day (still in nappies at night) she is just 22 months. Up until we went for it (took her trousers off and let her run round in big girl pants with legwarmers) she had sat on the potty lots but had never done anything.

I spent 3 days at home with her, Day 1 she had several accidents on the floor but her last one she was already running towards the potty.

Day 2, 3 wees in potty, 2 on the foor when distracted.

Day 3 no proper accidents just small dribbles on way to potty.

By day 4 she was only weeing every 3 hours or so, taking herself over to the potty and asking for help to go. She also did a poop in the potty on day 4 and has been dry ever since, even at nursery.

I'd say go for it but make sure you have at least a couple of days where you can be at home all day as it does take a few days to 'get it'.

The best age is when they are ready. I classed my daughter as ready at 2.4 when she would do both a wee and poo on the potty and demanded her nappy off (occasionally) when she needed to go. It was easy and took a couple of days. Other people go on about 3 being some kind of magic number, it isn't but I wouldn't start in ernest if she has never done anything on the potty.
