Hi everybody

Looking for advice on what to do with my 3 1/2 year old. He was a total nightmare to potty train, hes so stubborn it was like he resisted every request just for the hell of it. He wouldnt go near a potty or toilet and would scream blue murder if I tried to "force" him to sit on the potty. In the end I kind of gave up and waited until he wanted to do it himself which he literally did in a day. It was like he just said, OK Im ready, I'll do it now. He was 3 and 3 months by that point. Things were going well apart from poos and he would wait until the pull ups went on at night to do a poo every day. He's been constipated for the last week or so and was in real pain the other night before doing the biggest solid lumps of poo Ive ever seen, poor wee soul was in agony. In the last week hes regressed to the point where hes now back to screaming every time we go near a toilet when hes v obviously bursting then peeing his pants. I think hes still a bit constipated as his pants are always dirty so Im wondering is he frightened if he starts a pee will he do a sore poo?? Im also having a baby this week so am also wondering is it an attention thing. I have a 5 year old son and he has been "baby Harris" until now where he's "big boy Harris" He sometimes says things like "NO, Im the baby" - is it possible hes wanting to stay the baby and is doing this to keep my attention. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Bumping as you may as well be describing my dd! Poos a total nightmare and I think it's impacting on pees in the way you describe, she is massively stubborn and will deny needing the toilet when she is hopping about and clutching herself. Bribery not having a 100% success rate and I'm worried about the amounts of treats she's getting!
We went to the GP who said to go back on the lactulose, as far as I can see all it is doing is making her produce daily skitters, which of course are in her pants...sigh....

Mine has skittery pants all bleedin day!! Its like a constant slow release all day when he would feel so much better if he just let go!! Maybe if I just go into labour in the next day or 2 and hide in hospital for a few days hubby can sort it out. Ha ha! Its funny how stubborn they can be, he really does seem to just get more resistant the harder I try.

I am soooooooooo over the skitters I tell you, aaaaaaaaaaargh. Constant slow release is the perfect description, I really don't think she is constipated anymore. I think we had about 6 skitter changes today..
