Stitches not healed correctly

I gave birth to a baby boy 18 days ago and required stitches (grade 2). The midwife at has checked on my stitches on all visits however yesterday she said that it appears that I have a hole still left where the doctor did not stitch the skin correctly. Apparently instead of doing a continuous stitch he done several stitches and left pieces of skin open hoping it would all heal Confused

I'm booked into my doctors today because the midwife said I need to get checked out by a gp to see how big the cavity is underneath. She's worried me but said that the doctor wouldn't restitch anyway.

Wanted to know if anyone else had experienced anything similar

No experience of this as had emergency sections on both but I do hope you have managed to see a Gp and been given some help with your stitches

You've probably been reassured by now, but I had the same and just to let you know that by 2 months PP it was perfectly healed.

The midwife said the same to me and I was terrified when she said that they wouldn't be able to restitch. Her words were 'you've been stitched up "unsympathetically"' 😬

Thanks for replying. I was put on some anti biotics and went back to the doctors yesterday to see if the stitches had healed and was told that they are healing fine now. No need for any further support with them and I have been discharged from the midwife now.
