What was your first period like postpartum?

And when did you get it?

DS is 6 months and I stopped BF nearly 2 weeks ago. Today I'm having some light bleeding, not sure whether it's my period coming back. I expected the first one to be heavy?

I had light bleeding after about 6 months for about 3 days, then a proper period at 9 months post partum (still BF). This was heavier and longer that before I was pregnant, but not as awful as I expected!

My period returned exactly 28 days after delivery and it was exceptionally heavy. It has shown up on time every month since. I breastfed exclusively for 3 months btw.

Thanks cedartree12. They do say that exclusive BF usually keeps your fertility away for 6 months, and your story seems to support that.

Wow that's unlucky, Lotus! Were subsequent cycles just as heavy or did it settle down back to your normal?

9 months postpartum, just last week. Massacre. Horrible. Hoping that's the worst of it over now, as prior to having DS4 my periods were super light.

And sorry yes, EBF usually does keep it away longer. Not always of course, but usually.

@Firstimepetitioner yes, they settled down, they were never that heavy afterwards.

I had period pains off and on for about a year after giving birth. Then 15 months after birth, my period came. It was a lot of red blood but not uncomfortable at all. It lasted fewer days than before and has been much more regular and the period pains have stopped. I'm still bfing though.

Good to hear that they always seem to settle down after the first one, no matter how bad that seems to be!

I had light bleeding all day yesterday but it seems to have dried up overnight Confused

Not breastfeeding. My period came exactly 2 months after giving birth
