Third Degree Tear - not sure what's normal?

I gave birth to my DD 12 days ago, and suffered a third degree tear. I was stitched up in theatre, and things seem to have been going ok with my recovery. I've been able to go to the loo, keep clean and haven't been too sore.

Until now...

In the last few days, a lot of the swelling has gone right down and I've been able to orientate myself a bit more down there when trying to wash.

The area around my vagina and perineum feels pretty normal, and not tender, but I'm more sore than I was around my bum, and around my bum feels lumpy to the touch, a bit like how I imagine piles might be (I've never had piles so I'm not sure!). One lump in particular is the sorest, not just when I touch it.

Is this normal? Are the 'lumps' swelling/healing or do I need it looking at?

I had a 3rd degree tear and actively refrained from feeling what was going on down there for at least 2 months Grin I'd flag it to the HV or midwife at your next appointment.

Congratulations on your DD!
