second degree tear stitches falling out

Hello :)

My baby is 9 days old and I had a second degree tear and stitches.

I just went to the Loo and I think when I wiped some of the stitches were on the paper. It was about 2cm, should I be worried or is this ok?

Sounds about right They will be the type that dissolve so after a few days will just get brushed off.

I had to have mine snipped at 5 days as they were so uncomfortable.

You could always get it checked out if you are concerned that the skin hasn't healed together.

Mine started to dissolve and fall out after about a week. I was pretty much healed by 6 weeks

Sounds normal and they might itch too as the skin heals.

I don't remember my stitches coming out like that but I assume they will just be disappearing now. Does the midwife still come round? Maybe get her to check it and ask her some questions about recovery.

My stitches came apart and didn't know until I saw for myself despite a midwife checking that day!
