Shady postal voting tricks in Bristol

Labour candidate and former MP Kerry McCarthy already knows how many votes were cast by post in Bristol and thought it would be helpful to broadcast this information in advance of the General Election.

'@Kerry4MP First PVs opened in east Bristol, our sample: Lib Dem xx; Tory xx; Labour xx. #gameON!'

How would someone in her position NOT know that this is against the law?

And obviously the XXs mark the real percentages above, in her tweet she had the real figures.

I am generally disturbed by the number of postal votes being registered. A very interesting article on Politcal Betting shows that in some areas postal voting is a very high percentage of the electorate and it seems especially in Labour held constituencies.

Strict scrutiny and security of postal votes need to ensured.

What I think is bad is that this offence that carries a fine or up to 6 months in prision.

I'm not advocating she goes to prison - but when she reported her 'mistake' the response was something like 'it happens fairly often and you're going to get a ticking off'!

So, if we all go out and break the law just a little bit - will we all just get a ticking off?
