Did anyone catch what Jo Swinson said after the vote in the HofC yesterday?

Because the BBC decided getting the views of their political commentator was more important than hearing from Jo Swinson (who is potentially going to be one of the most powerful people in the country if this snap election goes ahead) when I was watching the live reporting of the vote yesterday. I couldn’t watch anymore as we had to watch GBBO (priorities Grin).

Jo Swinson (East Dunbartonshire) (LD):

“Further to that point of order, Mr Speaker. Across the country, people have been protesting because they are worried. They are worried about the Prime Minister’s riding roughshod over our parliamentary democracy. Tonight the House of Commons has spoken: it has said that we will not let that happen.

Much as I relish the opportunity to take on the Prime Minister in a general election, it is vital—[Interruption.] It is vital that this House acts with responsibility, and does not take our country into an election at a point at which there is any risk that we will crash out of the European Union during that election campaign or immediately afterwards. We must act responsibly.”

It is interesting that Corbyn has been asking for a General Election on a daily basis since the last one and now doesn't want one.

It's not that he doesn't want one, but that he wants to make sure that BJ doesn't say 14th Oct to get the vote through and then change the date to after 1st Nov when we will have left on 31st Oct.
