Votes in local elections. What does it tell us?

So the Liberals and Greens have taken votes away from the two main parties. Both Liberals and Greens wish to remain in the EU and are asking for another referendum in the light of the reality of our situation. How is it then that the main parties have interpreted this result as the public wishing for them to “get on with Brexit”?

Because they can't see what's blatantly obvious.
Everyone thought the Lib Dems were finished after that disastrous coalition, so for them to have made so many gains is extremely indicative of a shift in public mood.

I rather suspect the European elections will show similar. I, for one, am hoping we can get articulate and sensible MEPs in place in Brussels to avoid Farage et al being the sole voice of the UK in Europe!!!! Predictions show a heavy SNP presence in Europe after elections, and I hope they're right given the unequivocal statements about wanting a good relationship, welcoming of EU immigrants and to remain in the EU.

Agree with all that. There are none so deaf who will not hear.

That people still believe in democracy...Even though it's an utter fraud and if truth be known, has never truly existed.
