The old ones are the best.

"Mr Harding said criticism of the BBC was 'unfair and unfounded', including over the 'fabled left-wing bias' of the broadcaster.

'In the light of the Conservative victory, what's the argument? That the BBC's subtle, sophisticated left-wing message was so very subtle, so very sophisticated that it simply passed the British people by?"

Maybe the argument is that the BBC is not as "subtle" as it thinks and that people are no longer taken in and that many watch Sky and ITV and Channel 4 instead.

''In the light of the Conservative victory, what's the argument?'

Maybe the BBC is not as powerful and influential as some of its bosses think it is.

My experience of broadcasters themselves is that the men have diverse views. And the women are largely Tory. I have known roughly 10 women and 14 men. (but not in the carnal sense)

Perhaps human beings are incapable of being objective. We are all human.

I know 3 BBC broacasters (TV) who are openly Tory (Out as they say)
But they are good at the job.

Diverting, a little. Hewlett and Eddie Mair are the real tough interviewers. The chaps with the big reputations for nastynness on TV are just showing off Paxo would have made a good DJ

It's like comparing apples and oranges anyway this "left wing bias" the BBC are still part of the Elite, they cow-tow to Westminster.

Therefore you are guaranteed
All male
All white
All middle-upper class
All oxbridge
All bland predictable
LEFT OR RIGHT.

Impartial my arse.

Most people who complain seem to think that every programme should be impartial and equal but it was never meant to be - for politics it has to be impartial and equal over all the output. For science then it doesn't have to give airtime to everbodies stupid theories based on what they dreamed up or is recommended by their favourite sky fairy.

Thanks, best laugh I've had all week. Anyone in Scotland at the time of the referendum would have seen the BBC at its biased best

"The BBC is a valued national institution that produces some of the finest television and radio in the world” - George Osbourne .

It’s well respected around the world as one of the least biased and most informative and non-sensationalist sources of news around. Labour, the Conservatives, Lib Dems, DUP, SNP and UKIP have all complained of bias against them so the BBC must be doing something right which is more than can be said for the DM and other viewspapers!

I agree with Olly about the Scottish referendum, the BBC was so pro independence it would have been embarrassing were it not for STV which might as well have just declared its pro stance. Fortunately most Scots were not fooled.
