It is interesting that he said he was not interested in knighthoods or Lordships etc. He saw those as selling out to the establishment. He claimed he wanted independence. He is or was a world player. They called him Sir to his face, as they queued up to greet him at his parties. That was good enough for him.

There is one towering figure who stands head and shoulders above the pigmies on the Labour front bench, and that is Boris Johnson. Could he become the next PM or does the fact that he is London Mayor rule him out?
