Sorry don't know if it's available on BBC Sounds but the podcast - Home school history is good (is by one the Horrible History gang). Also might be worth checking out Maddie's Sound Explorers.

I think BBC Sounds currently has the Alan Bennett Wind in the Willows adaptation, it's brilliant and my daughter loves it.

Also Google "audible stories," should find some free content from Audible you can listen to. We really enjoyed Zero (exciting space adventure) and a weird one called Shoebag about a cockroach that turns into a boy
