Do I have that right - has anyone else heard that Ken Livingstone is apparently planning to use "tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque" costing an estimated £100M in the docklands???

Not opposed to mosque's being built - but 100 million pounds - ??????

Not sure how true it is but I have heard that the plan is for the mosque to be so big so that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will see it as the biggest landmark in London , bigger than St Pauls, Westminster Abbey or Wembley

I think booktheif means the London mosque referred to in the email. Not exactly an urban myth some basis in truth ie there are plans to build a mosque just nothing like the scale mentioned and not using public funds.

There was a big kerfuffle about it being 'higher than everything else so the muslims could show their dominance and using 'our' money to do it, too!!!'

Oh god yes, it was simply a cost thing, why would I mind that there was a mosque being built? But £100 million to build the biggest mosque they could is a bit steep if the lie was a truth and that was taxpayers money. There are so many other things we could spend that much money on.
