Please say a prayer

Please pray for my family. We lost our Dad suddenly on Sunday. He was only 62. We are all struggling to come to terms with it. We are trying to support our Mum and help each other (we are 3 sisters each with 2 children and loving husbands). Don't want to leave our names but we are in the Hull area. Thank you.

Oh chipbutty - I am so sorry. It is incredibly difficult. I lost my mum when she was 43 but she had been ill for a few months and we knew it was coming. My dh recently lost his mum at 63 and it was very sudden - a heart attack (same as what happened to his dad at 47). I will say a prayer and think of you all. It is good that you seem to have a close family which really helps at times like this. All you can do is be there for each other and in time you will be able to smile when you remember all the happy memories of your dad. Love and best wishes.xxx

Praying for you and your family. I lost my dad very suddenly, due to a heart attack, and it was a big shock.

Take strength from the fact that you are obviously a close family. Thoughts and prayers especially with your mum

Have said a prayer. We lost my Dad suddenly 18months ago and he was only 61. Losing your Dad shakes your whole being and the whole world seems different.

Things will never be the same but you will get through it. You'll feel stronger in yourself, and feel a stronger bond between all the family because of it.

The love he had for you is always there. He is still there - in you, and in your children. Lots of love to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father ChipButty. I lost my own dad last year. I'm not a Christian, but thought you might like this poem (which I read at my dad's funeral). Thinking of you at this difficult time.

Shifting the Sun

When your father dies, say the Irish,
you lose your umbrella against bad weather.
May his sun be your light, say the Armenians

When your father dies, say the Welsh,
you sink a foot deeper into the earth.
May you inherit his light, say the Armenians.

When your father dies, say the Canadians,
you run out of excuses.
May you inherit his sun, say the Armenians.

When your father dies, say the French,
you become your own father.
May you stand up in his light, say the Armenians.

When you father dies, say the Indians,
he comes back as the thunder.
May you inherit his light, say the Armenians.

When your father dies, say the Russians,
he takes your childhood with him.
May you inherit his light, say the Armenians.

When your father dies, say the English,
you join his club you vowed you wouldn't.
May you inherit his sun, say the Armenians.

When your father dies, say the Armenians,
your sun shifts forever.
And you walk in his light.

Bless you, it touched my heart when I read your thread my dad died 6 years ago he was 62, it would have been his birthday today, 12th May. It changed my life and altered my perspective as I always thought my dad would be there but I had to find strength and support my mum and I believe it has made me a better person and he would have been proud x stay strong xxx
