Help! Find that quotation - patchwork quilt and heaven?

A close friend said to me once that she'd read that life is like a quilt that we're looking at the underside of - when we get to heaven we'll see it all and be able to understand the pattern that now doesn't make any sense.

I'd really like to find the source if at all possible - has anyone read this or similar? My friend was a Christian so it's likely to be from a Christian source, but not necessarily.

Thank you

It's quite a well known analogy in Christian circles - life being like a tapestry, where we only see the beauty when it is completed and sometimes it makes little sense to us as we are going along - but as far as I know it's not a biblical quote, someone may come along and tell me I'm wrong though!

Might also come from this poem which was by Corrie Ten Boom, a Christian woman who survived the Nazi camp Ravensbruck:

My life is but a weaving between my God and me,
I do not choose the colours; He works so steadily.
Oft times He weaves in sorrow, and I in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper, and me the underside.
Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas, and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the weavers skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
