Come People of the Risen King by Keith and Kristyn Getty is lovely.

Oh if we're talking Christmas Carols - I love most of them - Hark the Herald, o Little Town of Bethlehem, etc.

I like How Great Thou Art, but there's another one I came specifically on this thread to mention, and I've just forgotten the name. We had it at our wedding and it was sung on our first visit to our current church :-)

I'm LDS, my favourite hymns are Lead Kindly Light, Be Still My Soul, The Wintry Day Descending to its Close, Sweet Hour of Prayer, How Firm a Foundation, The Lord is my Light, I Need Thee Every Hour, Master the Tempest is Raging, I Stand All Amazed and I Know that my Redeemer Lives.

Hymns are enormously important to me in expressing my faith, I am not sure how many, if any, form part of the canon in non-LDS churches but if anyone is interested to hear them, this website lets you play and hear them all (subject to copyright restrictions on a few).

Old hymns - either When I Survey The Wondrous Cross or Be Thou My Vision.

New hymns - in Christ Alone or Blessed Be Your Name.

Christmas carols - O Holy Night or It Came Upon The Midnight Clear: "oh hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing"

Another vote for In Christ Alone.
Also like the hymn And Can It Be.
Currently listening to the album 10,000 Reasons.

tuffie beat me to it - at the moment, I think 'Be Still for the Presence of the Lord...' is probably amongst my favourites, but you can never go wrong with traditionals such as 'Love Divine' Smile

How could I forget Rock of Ages, cleft for me??????!!!!

and Make me a channel of your peace...although it is funny when everyone sings ''where there is darknessssssssssssss'' a-la Gollum!!!!

and I the lord of sea and sky...always gets me, it was a calling to obey God in something and that hymn was a 'fleece'.

Here I am Lord, is it I, Lord, I have heard you calling in the night, I will go Lord, where you lead me. (welling up now as I type this!)

I love most of those mentioned here but my absolute favourite is Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.

Walk in the Light is so beautiful and so simple. Amazing Grace always brings on tears as reminds me of my aunt's funeral. Most highly favoured lady - on an album of winter songs by Sting

debtherat I love Jars of clays version of most highly. gorgeous harmonies on it. Id love to hear the Sting version, with his husky vocal must sound really ethereal..

I used to be part of the worship group as singer and guitarist and every single time we sang that I could NEVER get the line and always ALWAYS, into a mic, sang 'most highly FLAVOURED lady'!!

i also love 'father i place into your hands'...a hymn Im singing to myself often these days!
