Why would a cat suddenly start pissing in my shoes?

Only thing that's changed is that they're getting IAMS and Sheba now instead of Whiskers and Go Cat. Are they telling me they want to go back to their old food? I'm mightily annoyed about my shoes!

Any ideas?

He wants to die a slow death... he surely can find a more polite way to tell you he hates the new food? what's wrong with not eating it at all, or be sick on the kitchen floor? Don't allow him to use your shoes as an outlet to his frustration.

I would change their food but now to an economy brand, they need to show you some respect or pay the consequences.

No idea.

For a while my cat took to pissing on me in the middle of the night. The delight of feeling warm then suddenly cold was just lovely. I think it was a dirty protest about something, I just couldn't work out what.
Think yourself lucky about the shoes! Good luck with working it out!

Hide the shoes. Lock the cats in a room with Joanna Lumley. That'll learn 'em.

Our cat does this sometimes. I assumed it was because it was raining outside, she knew she should go out to pee but couldn't be fecked so did it on my shoes figuring that they smelled of outside so they were the next best thing.

I put my shoes in the cupboard now.

One of my dogs pissed copiously into my croc wellies. I only discovered this when I put it on...
DH suggested that even the dog felt they were a crome against taste and fashion.
