Degu anybody?

Are there any experienced Degu owners here? Really struggling to find the advise I need, even online, so was hoping Mumsnet would come to the rescue.

My Question: What am i suposed to do with the bloody things??? We get them out on an evening and i sit with them and let them crawl all over me, but what are they suposed to be doing? all they seem to want to do is escape, is that right? We want happy Degu, and I would like to know what the objective is for them in terms of enjoyment when out?
