The fleas should die within two weeks and they have nothing to feed on.

Our cat is a flea bag too, they always appear before the end of the month when he gets his Frontline. How long have you had them for? Also I have no evidence for this but I think that country fleas live longer than city fleas.

i use de-fest. You spray it into the 4 corners of the room, shut the door for an hour or so, then hoover. Voila!

Thanks!

Will try that poopscoop. And Clara, we do live in the Country, another reason why I should move back to the City

You need to treat the house - get a product that both kills adults in the house and contains a flea hormone to stop the early life cycle stages continuing to develop after you have killed the adults, as the killing agent will not kill these stages. Suggest Indorex spray from the vets but probably not the only product that acts this way
Consider using another product instead of frontline on the pets too - stronghold/advocate/advantage all pretty reasonable at doing the job. The disadvantage of these products is that you will need to get from the vet or get a prescription from the vet to be able to buy online, unlike frontline.

ooh how do you know if your cat has fleas apart from the obv itching?

I am really bad for remembering to deflea ours but have never noticed anything

Am I

b) prob overrun with fleas and need fumigating

I'm sitting here scratching my bites. Mustsleep if you had fleas I think you'd know. Although I am the only one in this house who actually notices the bites, so maybe you are all non noticers.

the fleas and ticks advisor i sae=w in the pet shop said that frontline will not allow the fleas to live on your pet, but they can still hop on and off for a bite. they can also live for months/t=years in egg and pupae stages in your carpet and soft furnishings.

You need to treat your home, whichever product you decide, you should spray in the cracks under skirting boards and also on hard floors as they can lodge in the cracks between wood panels too. And wash your bedding, pets bedding and caushions if poss at min of 60degrees to kill the little buggers.

Vac your mattress once you have stripped your beds too. Its a'mare but most of the treatments remain effective for a period after use eg. 12 months.
