I have had to shut them in the house in disgrace.
I have a good friend who lives a few houses away. She has a large run in her back garden which houses her rabbit and guinea pig. My 8-month-old kittens are enthralled by this arrangement and are constantly popping over to visit - she and her DH try to discourage them with the garden hose, but no such luck; they reappear at home, dripping but happy, as they love water and actively enjoy being soaked.
This morning, friend phones me and asks if I can come removed my cat from her rabbit run as he is scaring the guinea pig. I turn up to find him stalking the rabbit round and round the enclosure. The best fun appears to be chasing the rabbit into his fabric tunnel and then pouncing on it until it shoots out the other end. It is unclear whether or not the rabbit is actually enjoying this game quite as much as the cat is.
Just as I retrieve bad kitten one from the run, bad kitten two comes strolling up the garden with a fully grown blackbird in his mouth which he then proceeds to dismember and devour in their shrubbery.
I am so embarrassed.
I have been a cat owner all my life and I've never had any as naughty as these two before.
I can't leave the house without someone - quite often someone who lives several streets away - informing me that bad kitten one has been visiting their house - I did wonder why he is already twice the size of bad kitten two, he knows the location of every cat flap in the neighbourhood by the sounds of things. He has also been visiting the local secondary school where DD has the distinction of being the only pupil whose cat is on first name terms with the entire teaching staff. Some teenage boys also informed me recently that he spends a lot of time hanging out in the local skate park.
Any thoughts on behaviour management strategies gratefully accepted.
