when is busiest time for kittens?

Hi - follow on from thread a couple of weeks ago. I eventually found a couple of rescue places near to me and have my name down at both but no kittens as yes.

DS x2 are waiting patiently for a call but I'm being the sad one, keep checking the answer machine for any messages.

I know kitten season starts in spring but doesn anyone know when it starts to get busy??
(I know - I am starting to sound a bit desperate.)
