Puppy loss of one eye

My heart is broken. Today my 4 month old French Bulldog puppy had his eye badly scratched by a cat whilst out walking. Tomorrow he has to have surgery to have it removed. He is just a baby. Please, if anybody had experienced this, I need words of encouragement. Is he going to cope?
I just can’t bare to think of him struggling.
Thank you. X

He will struggle unless it’s dealt with... and he won’t struggle after the op with such a caring person to look after him :) it’ll be like watching him learning to walk, he just needs to adapt :)

The accident sounds very traumatic, but don’t worry about his future, he’ll be just fine Star

He'll totally just adapt unlike humans he won't have any awareness that he's actually missing something- and as far as I'm aware it will only have limited impact e.g. Just some restrictions to peripheral idiom which won't restrict him in reality. So very upsetting for you totally but for him long term of little consequence xx

My parents had a rescue dog who had to have an eye removed due to trauma prior to being in kennels. She lived 13 years very happily with the one eye. She didn't like anyone coming up from behind on the blind side without talking to her, but that was also due to her previous mistreatment.

The only difficulties came when she was grew elderly and her hearing and the sight in her remaining eye began to go. She started bumping into things and lost her quality of life quicker than she might have done otherwise, but she did live to be 14+.

He'll be fine.
