Tom cat burglar

My friend needs advice on how to deal with the 2am Tom who wanders through cat flap , steals food , sprays all over house then buggers off! She reverted cat flap to trap him inside but he vandalised it and now it's broken. Any advice much appreciated

Board up the cat flap . Unfortunately it means letting the cat in and out but stop s cat burglars

We left a baking tray of water underneath cat flap. Locked our cat away. And waited! When Mr Tom came through he didn't see the water until too late! He didn't like it, he came back a couple of times a little more cautiously and saw the water and went away. He hasn't been in house, that I can tell, since.
