What pets and other animals do you have? Who looks after them?
What do you like about them?

I have two horses, a 16.2hh IDxTB gelding and a shetland poney, a 6 y.o German Shorthaired Pointer bitch and 6 hens (Black Rock).
We have some land, so they all live at home, and really although we get eggs from the hens all of them are really pets.
My big horse is an old retired gentleman, he's got the kindest eyes and the most gentle manner about him, the little pony is a very cheeky chap who is a master escapist. The pointer bitch is the most patient babysitter and I've taught her to pull the buggy with a harness (v useful after c/s), she loves running and chasing bunnies and lying in front of the fire at night. My hens are such fun too, I love the happy little sounds they make when they scratch in the ground for grubs. I love my little animal family.

I have an Icelandic mare and apomeranian dog. My horse lives on a farm a couple of miles away, with a herd of brood mares an youngsters, and is no doubt teaching the babies how to test electric fencing! She looks like a big hairy pony, but boy can she get some speed up in tolt! She wouldn't let me get near her when I was pregnant, but now she is fascinated by dd - I don't think she's seen a tiny human before.

As for the pom, he is a 5lb fluffball who thinks he rules the roost. His little quirk is to wake me up on a morning by licking my hand, and then jumping on me the minute I move. He then shepherds me into to check on dd, and then to the bathroom! He can do a very funny little dance on his hind legs if he wants something. So far, he has been extremely patient with dd, even when she grabbed his fur.

We have 2 ponies, a 14.2hh grey Welsh type gelding who is overweight through lack of work and a pretty 12.2hh chestnut mare who doesn't do fat. Ever. Not even after spring grass!

We have a black Great Dane who is an absolute star. Although he does fairly terrible farts.

And we currently have 7 hens, various breeds including 2 lovely Light Sussex.

They all live at home and the DCs help to look after all of them

Does it sound like a home from home Rochwen?

We've only got a old collie cross, she's 15. I've had her 9 yrs as she's a rescue dog. Although she's 15 she'll still happily trot on walks for a couple of miles, although she stops to have a sniff quite often. She's very gentle with my dd whos 21mths. She's a big fur ball of a dog, lots of mad fluffy black hair with tan feet and very expressive tan eye brows. She still bounces around the room every evening with a ball like a puppy, although she'll only do a few minutes at a time now. I know I'm going to miss her like crazy when she's gone, and we've decided we can't cope without a dog so we've booked a puppy. A border collie, the bitch is pregnant now, we've just got to wait for them to be born. I think my old collie will love teaching it her cheeky habits!
I used to have ponies and would love to have them again one day, and would love hens too - one day in the future perhaps!

Two dogs, Arthur (loveable wirey terrier-like brown furred mutt) and Merlin (too-clever-by-half black and white Border Collie). One cat, Ziggy (black and white mobbie) who will surely one day take over the world.

So watch out!

one jet black female rescue cat, with maybe 5 or 6 white furs on her chest.

We've had her 5 years and vets think she was 5 when we got her.

She's been amazingly rewarding in that she was super-timid at first like many animals that have ended up in shelters, but is now the opposite with us, and the few hours she is not sleeping will be pestering us for strokes or more food.

we made a great choice, and i'm proud of the way she has coped with the arrival of 2 children.

well full respect to you.

We're moving soon for the first time in 16 years, and the whole thing is pretty daunting at the moment.
