my poor kitty

I came home from work this evening. I had been in for about 5mins and doorbell rang. I ran excitedly to the door with Ds' behind thinking it was trick or treaters. I opened and two ladies were standing there, saying they had found a cat and he had been hit by a car. Dh went out and saw it was Dcat. There was nothing to be done.
I can't stop crying and i have had to break news to ds1 7 and ds2 4 who have had such a nice spooky afternoon at childdminders.
He was such a lovely cat and i'm going to miss his meow at the door every morning.

I'm so incredibly sorry, it so hard to lose a cat in such a way. If you post on the Litter Tray you will get very good advice. Take care and I'm so sorry for your loss
